CHMK, London: Associate Prof. Dr. Shwan Adam Aivas, the Chairperson of Kurdish Media Watchdog (CHMK.org), was formally invited by Northumbria University Newcastle to present a seminar at their London Campus on October 27, 2025.
The lecture focused on the intersection of technology and ethics, specifically under the title: “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Literacy: A Critical Examination of Privacy Policies in Contemporary News Media.”
The session featured a robust debate between Dr. Aivas and the academic audience. In his concluding remarks, Prof. Ives emphasized that while AI offers powerful tools for newsrooms, it requires strict adherence to privacy standards. He noted that because legislation often lags behind technological innovation, the responsibility falls on a collaborative effort between media professionals, tech developers, and policymakers to establish ethical guardrails.
