On Friday (26 June 2026), the secretariat of the 3rd CHMK National Forum for Media Reform convened in London to evaluate the final preparations for the upcoming summit, which is scheduled for 8–9 July 2026. This landmark event marks a significant milestone as it officially transitions into the First International Scientific Conference on Media Reform, hosted at SOAS, University of London.
During the meeting, the Chairperson and members of the Secretariat thoroughly reviewed and finalised the official rosters for participating researchers, keynote speakers, delegates, and VIP guests. The committee conducted a meticulous audit of all academic, administrative, logistical, and media frameworks to guarantee that the two-day international summit is executed to the highest standards of scientific and organisational excellence.
This third iteration of the forum will convene under the definitive theme “Media Reform in Post-Conflict Regions: An International Scientific Conference on Kurdistan’s Strategic Policy Roadmap”.
The primary objective of this year’s forum is to facilitate rigorous, evidence-based academic dialogue to draft actionable recommendations for the “Strategic Policy Roadmap for Kurdish Media Reform (2026–2036). “Key areas of focus include legislative amendments, safeguarding freedom of expression, protecting journalistic liberties, and establishing robust professional codes of ethics within contemporary digital landscapes.
The forum is led and presided over by the Kurdish Media Watchdog (CHMK), in close co-organisation with the Kanga Educational Foundation (KEF) and the Vision Agency for International Development (VisionAID). Reflecting its global scale, the summit is supported by a prestigious coalition of prominent international academic and professional bodies based in the United Kingdom, including the UK Media Reform Coalition (MRC), the Goldsmiths Leverhulme Media Research Centre, and the Journal of Digital Media & Policy (JDMP), published by Intellect Books, UK.
This two-day scientific event at SOAS will serve as a vital crossroads for dozens of leading researchers, media executives, policymakers, and communication experts from both the Kurdistan Region and the global diaspora.
